Joanne Carmody Meierhofer is a lifelong artist who has worked in watercolor, oil, charcoal  and most recently in pastel. Joanne loves doing landscapes in plein air and figures, still lifes and portraits. Her travels also inspire her work.

She attended  the College of St Catherine in St Paul and the University of Minnesota majoring in art education.

Joanne took up pastel painting in 2001 and fell in love with the medium. She participated in Studio Hop in West Central Minnesota and exhibited locally and in nationwide exhibits. When she moved to northern Wisconsin in 2011 she joined an avid pastel group, exhibited locally, and became active in plein air in Port Wing Wisconsin and Grand Marais Minnesota. She's a member of the Lake Country Pastel Society, the Chequamegon Arts Council and the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota.

She has won a number of awards for her work over the years including one from the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts. She has received a number of awards at the Port Wing Plein Air Festival and the Chequamegon Bay Arts Council.
